High Blood Pressure

High Blood Pressure means hypertension. Hypertension is a general condition in which the blood pressure rate high enough. An elevated blood pressure can sooner or later cause health especially heart problems. As you know, your heart pumps blood into your arteries. If your heart pumps normal blood into your arteries and if your arteries are not narrowed beause of vessel stiffness or arteriosclerosis then your blood pressure will be normal. However, if your heart pumps more blood into your arteries than normal and if your arteries are damaged with atherosclerosis then your blood pressure will be higher. For, it will be diffucult for blood to get into circulation of blood and flow circulatory system. You can have hypertension for many years without feeling any indications. High blood pressure builds up slowly and insidiously throughout the years. However if you are an individual who takes care of his/her health high blood pressure can be easily diagnosed. Once you recognize the symptoms of high blood pressure and know you have you should suggest to your family doctor and work with him/her in order to keep it under control. A lot of people with early-stage hypertension sometimes may have a feeling of dull headaches, giddy spells and nose-bleedings than usual. However, commonly high blood pressure do not show any indications until it has reached a serious level or even becomes a life-threatening stage. There are two kinds of hypertension: 1- Essential or primary hypertension: This type of hypertension commonly tends to develop slowly and gradually in adults with the passing years. 2- Secondary hypertension: This type of hypertension generally has an underlying and triggering disease. Secondary high blood pressure goes up suddenly because of various conditions or medications. The underlying and triggering diseases may be adrenal gland diseases or tumors, defects in blood vessels or heart by birth known as congenital heart diseases and kidney diseases.

Drug therapy or some medications which cause high blood pressure may be: Anti-baby pills, common cold home remedies, decongestants, over the counter pain drugs and some of the prescription medicines. Besides, some illegal drugs may cause the tension to go up. These illegal drugs are amphetamines and cocaine. The risk factors of hypertension include: 1- Age: As people age the risk of high blood pressure develops. However it is more common in men than women. In women hypertension generally appears after menopause. 2- Race: High blood pressure is more common among black race rather than white race. 3- Family history of high blood pressure and the family history of obesity or being overweight. 4- Lack of physical activity such as inactiveness or passivity tends to hypertension. 5- Chewing tobacco, smoking or being secondhand smoker and having more coffee than adequate cause the tension go up. 6- Using too much salt in diet is another factor because sodium retains fluid in your body and causes hypertension. 7- Lack of potassium and vitamin D in your diet may affect blood pressure. 8- Having too much alcohol damages blood vessels and heart and increases blood flow and heart rate in the body. 9- Being under a lot of stress is the causes of eating more, smoking or having alcohol which causes high blood pressure. 10- High blood pressure may be the result of some chronic conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, kidney diseases and sleep apnea. 11- Pregnancy in some women may lead to high blood pressure. In general, high blood pressure occurs in adults. However, sometimes children may be at risk because of their problems with the kidneys or heart. , Uncontrolled hypertension complications are: Aneurysm, heart attack, heart failure, metabolic syndrome, weakened and narrowed blood vessels in the kidneys, stroke, thickened, narrowed or torn blood vessels in the eyes, trouble with memory or understanding.
