Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty is a plastic surgery which generally called “tummy tuck”. Tummy tuck procedure is performed to form the skin of abdomen that lost its elasticity because of usual causes. Abdomen cosmetic surgery procedure contains the removal of fat and surplus excess skin from the lower and upper abdomen so as to tighten up the abdominal muscles and fascia of the abdominal wall. Abdomen lifting surgery is needed for tissue damages after pregnancy, childbirth or abnormal weight gain or weight loss.Sometimes aging may lead the abdomen become flabby. Although it is not a stretch mark removal formula but still these surgeries may formulate the stretch marks and deformation on the abdominal area to be lost. Umbilicus or belly button reconstruction is the most important factor of abdominoplastic surgery. The plastic surgeon bore a new hole in abdomen and then sutures the original navel or umbilicus. Abdominoplasty operations are classed depending on the mean duration of the operation. Complete or full abdominoplasty may take one to five hours. Partial or mini tummy tuck operation can be ended between one to two hours. Extended tummy tuck or lower half of the body lift may need much more time. Partial abdominoplasty is only involving to remove derma or skin and tighten the lower part of the abdomen. Mini tummy tuck has been simply operated below the umbilicus. Complete abdomen lifting is the most commonly used way of these kinds of operations. Procedure involves tightening both upper and lower part of abdominal skin and the lift abdominal wall. The umbilicus is naturally revised in full tummy tuck surgery. Extended abdominoplasty involved to remove the skin from the abdomen region as well as from the region of the loin, back of the semens or waist.

This means the hypogastric and surgical incision will be around the lower torso. Lower body lift is preferred by the patients who have had excessive weight loss by reason of providing a basis for upper thigh skin lift, lateral thigh lift and thigh reduction. Abdominoplasty is a contouring cosmetic surgery. Tummy tuck is not a weight loss operation. The ideal patients for abdomino aesthetic are: Candidates who are finished pregnancy and stopped having babies; can not have abdominal contour they expect in spite of exercise and diet; are well healthed; non-smokers or at least should not be smoking during surgery and recovery period; patient in stable weight. Therefore any type of abdominoplasty can not be offered to obese persons. The recovery period for mini tummy tuck is almost one and a half week. The healing process for full and extended type is four to five weeks. This surgery is done under general anesthesia. Duration of stay in the hospital for resting up may be two or three days after the surgery. In general the patients can be able to stand up following day. However, after two weeks of surgical intervention patients can be back to their routine activities. Although tummy tucks are known safe operations, the potential complications and risks are: Internal bleeding, asymmetry, nerve damage, hematoma, keloid, seroma, and skin loss, chances in skin sensation, skin discoloration, neonatal subcutaneous fat necrosis, pulmonary embolism, visible scar, persistent edema, persistent pain, blood cloths and infections! However, these risks are rarely observed throughout abdominal operations.
